Company History
During the 1960’s, the first MoS2 oil supplements were introduced to the market. They quickly proved a valuable supplement to the motor oils available at the time, providing not only better fuel consumption for the average motorist, but also a reassuring safety net in the event of oil loss.
The increasing popularity of Molybdenum Disulfide was complemented by the launch of a new concept in automotive and industrial lubricants – the anti-seize compound. Metal parts which need to be dismantled at some stage need protection from fusion, and this was now possible with the introduction of Copaslip (often misspelled as copperslip or coppaslip). It quickly became the generic term for an anti-seize and is used by manufacturers of cars, trucks and in various industries around the world.
His love of travel led the Baron Rolf Beck to establish a worldwide network of agents and distributors outside of the UK which helped cement the basis for the modern Molyslip international organization.
Throughout the 1960’s and 1970’s the popularity of Molyslip products grew in Canada. In 1972, Les Joyce officially incorporated Molyslip (Canada) Inc. and the business has been Canadian owned and operated since.
During the 70’s and 80’s Molyslip actively participated in various racing events and organized The Molyslip Endurance Series. The circuit spanned tracks from Manitoba to Newfoundland.
Today, Molyslip (Canada) Inc. continues to be invloved with the motorsports community with endorsements from organizations like Finishline Racing Schools and Joe DaSilva Racing.
Molyslip has also increased its focus on expanding and developing its range of specialist compounds and greases for use in all sectors of industry, particularly in steel production, construction and precision engineering. Molyslip aims to offer products which reduce downtime, increase performance and efficiency while prolonging the life of equipment and components, saving users time and money.
